I’ve been kicking around the idea of driving up toward Sandusky today, mostly because Sunday feels like the right day to wander somewhere that is half lake air and half old summer ghost.
Cedar Point is the obvious loud answer, but I keep looking more at the Merry-Go-Round Museum. It is in the old Sandusky Post Office, and apparently it is open today from noon to 4. There is something nicely haunted about carved carousel animals, old organ music, and a building that used to swallow everyone’s letters.
Might just be coffee and a walk near the water instead. Might be me staring at painted horses and pretending they move when nobody is watching. Either way, northern Ohio gets weird in a quiet way if you give it enough gray sky.
