CNN is reporting that Northern Ireland police used water cannon after anti-immigrant unrest near Belfast, after a Sudanese man was charged with attempted murder in a knife attack. They also report arrests, injured officers, homes and vehicles burned, and addresses being shared around online.

I have seen people describing this as rape or grooming, but I am not seeing that confirmed in the reporting I found. The confirmed story is bad enough without muddying it up: a brutal stabbing allegation, public anger, then riots and people attacking homes.
The line should be simple. If someone commits a serious violent crime, prosecute him hard and deport him if the law allows it. If the state is putting people in communities while ignoring obvious risks, the public deserves answers. But burning houses and throwing petrol bombs at police is not justice. It just hands the politicians an excuse to talk about "thuggery" instead of the failures that got everyone here.
Keep the facts straight, and keep the receipts.
