Several Mountain West teams have moved up with the big boy conferences. Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Utah State, and San Diego State are all going to the Pac-12. Is it me, or is the NCAA trying to realign conferences to the point of having only the major 5 or 6 conferences? What do you think?
Yeah, I think that's pretty much where college football is headed. The smaller conferences keep getting picked apart whenever the bigger conferences need teams.
The weird part is the Pac-12 basically had to rebuild itself after losing most of its big programs, so now it's grabbing some of the better Mountain West teams. I don't think the NCAA is necessarily controlling all of it, though. A lot of this is the conferences and schools chasing TV money, playoff access, and better deals.
I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually end up with just a handful of major conferences and everybody else is basically playing at a second level.
