It occured to me that since we have that usenet.legends group that maybe we need to nominate someone.
Who should be on it?

In which case I would suggest Neil Barker from demon.local who hated my non-compliant .sig so much that he Doxxed me and made death threats. Of course he never turned up.
Death Threats over a fuggin' sig file. WTF!

your sig should be considered a usenet legend in it's own right imo...
It's one of the first things I lmao at when I first found my way onto the net. Of course, I came late to the party and just lurked for a long time so I read a lot of posts and groups along the way.
In article 77b08f65-4138-4f34-a340-3dab03860ad9@rootbadger.com, a*********@riseup.net says...
When I first got on Usenet in 95 I think it was I got may ass handed to me. I went to the Art Bell group and was defending Art until I found out what it was really about. I also went to they Motley Crue group to discuss music and it only had about 8 people posting and they all hated the Crue. I didn't understand it and that got ugly. Like a dumb ass I had a link to a website I made about me and they used it to outer filth me big time. I had no idea. I learned quick what it was really about. I didn't even know what a troll was. When I did find out I jumped on that wagon and went from there. Alt.suport.fat- acceptance was one of the first groups I trolled. I acted like a "big boned" lady named Rosa. Soon I had them at each others throats. The MTV group I personally took down. The had "Troll busters? in their sigs and that was an invite to me. They begged me to leave and I said to remove the troll buster from their sigs and they did. AUK and AHM helped me hone my skills. AHM just kind of adopted me as the resident troll. I even dated a couple gals from there. Blu and Fixkitty.

And let's not forget UTB.

I found the net a little bit earlier than that and I lurked, read and explored for a couple of years.
I'd been messing around with radios for years and computers sold in the uk were mostly loaded with microsoft products and games but modems were not generally included for a long time. It meant a lot of people missed out on learning the basic network side of things and never moved beyond the icons on the desktop, using the home pc only as a stand-alone machine.
But, I decided that I really needed to learn about some of this server and network stuff that was being talked about in alt.hackers.malicious.
I didn't read usenet for a few years after that although I dropped in occasionally, I was mostly doing hardware repairs on OEM contracts and getting some on the job training.
Unfortunately it didn't include any web stuff training so I got a reseller account and started exploring the menu.
Wild Bill was one of my fave reads back then when I eventually got back onto usenet there was Lamey lol... and of course I picked up on all the really 'interesting' groups by following the xposting from ahm, the flonk and auk.
Which is why pretty much everything I've put online ever since has been a troll or a joke/spoof site.
Because life's just too short not to, and as my profile says I'm part lurker, part troll mate.

My .sig constantly evolved. When someone complained about it their complaint was added to it just to infuriate them some more.
