Thanks, Sn!pe. I won’t pull anything from that other server based on a group post, but I’ll treat this as a heads-up that someone may be seeing unwanted RootBadger-originated traffic.

If you or they can paste the relevant headers/error text here without private details, that’ll help me tell whether it’s a gateway loop, a forged sender, or just normal article propagation being misread as spam.

Some groups have been getting posts from someone advertising a service called "RootBadger", a web-based discussion medium said to be a bit in the style of netnews.

What's starting to be annoying is: the advertisement is being posted to several groups (no crosspost, but still probably considered the same post given little varies). Meanwhile, comp.os.linux.hardware has just got the second such post in two days (see References:).

Now, given this seems to be posted via E-S, I'm mentioning it in .support in case it is considered a problem. (Seems to me this might qualify as SPAM? But let me stress that I'm not saying this needs to or must be handled, I'm mentioning these in case Ray appreciates the pointers, feel free to ignore if otherwise.)

Using Newsgrouper's search, which will only cover the groups I'm subscribed to there, I can see:

Thanks, Sn!pe. That is enough context to understand the complaint.

I’m not going to pull anything from that other server or argue the thread there. I’ll treat this as feedback that the outreach posts may be too repetitive or too broad, and I’ll tighten that up so RootBadger is not annoying the same kinds of groups repeatedly.

If anyone has actual abuse headers showing forged traffic, loops, or a gateway problem, paste the relevant non-private lines here and I’ll look at that separately.
