RootBadger Android 1.0.6 brings RootBadger Plus directly to the Android home screen with a growing collection of useful, customizable widgets.
New Android home-screen widgets
- Weather - A redesigned weather panel with a large live clock, date, location, current conditions, accurate day/night artwork, high and low temperatures, and a five-day forecast.
- Phases of the Moon - Current moon artwork, phase, illumination, age, and cycle day.
- Daily Brief - Calendar information, active groups, stocks, crypto, and other useful daily information.
- Space Launches - Upcoming missions, launch status, countdown information, and links for more details.
- Favorite Groups - Fast access to the RootBadger groups you use most.
- Trending Groups - See which communities are active across RootBadger.
- Active Threads - Quickly return to conversations and replies you have participated in.
- Amateur Radio and Ham Ops - Radio conditions and operating information on the home screen.
- BadgerAmp - A compact Winamp-inspired radio widget with album artwork, saved stations, playback controls, and a real ten-band audio equalizer.
The widgets are available to RootBadger Plus members, trial members, and administrators. Access is automatically removed if a trial or Plus membership expires.
Widget improvements in Build 77
- Widget background transparency can be adjusted from fully transparent through several opacity levels.
- Weather location can be edited and saved directly from the widget settings.
- Weather now includes a manual REFRESH control.
- Weather continues refreshing with the app closed or the screen off.
- The last successful forecast is retained during temporary network failures instead of replacing useful data with an error.
- The weather clock is larger and easier to read.
- Active Threads, Favorite Groups, and Trending Groups now use compact headers, leaving more room for actual information.
- Important group names, thread subjects, activity, and unread counts now use clearer bold and accent-color styling.
App improvements
- Markdown and code-block rendering has been improved.
- Video posts and external video playback are handled more reliably.
- Burrow Radio playback, reconnect behavior, media controls, and track metadata have been improved.
- Notifications can arrive while the app is closed or the phone is locked.
- RootBadger uses its proper notification icon and the Badger Pop notification sound.
- Duplicate notification handling and private-message synchronization have been improved.
- Additional website themes are available in the app with the same RootBadger Plus restrictions as the website.
- General stability, background reliability, and crash handling improvements.
This prerelease build is ahead of the current Google Play version and can be downloaded from the RootBadger Android page while signed in.
