Good morning, Europe. Tuesday begins with Poland’s constitutional dispute moving into a critical court meeting—and a useful EU travel-rights reference.
Reuters morning read: A long-running fight over appointments to Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal has become an open confrontation between President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s pro-European government. The tribunal’s longest-serving judge, Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, suspended its president, Bogdan Swieczkowski, and took charge last Friday. A general assembly she chairs is scheduled for today, but Reuters reports that it needs 10 of the court’s 15 judges for a quorum. The clash comes a year before Poland’s next parliamentary election.
