Good morning, Europe. Wednesday brings a wider look at company profits across the continent—and a quick check before your next trip abroad.
Reuters morning read: Third-quarter earnings for companies in the
pan-European STOXX 600 are forecast to grow 20.7% from a year earlier. That is slower than the second quarter’s 24% pace but still among the strongest rates in years. Analysts have unusually raised their estimates ahead of results, with energy prices and data-centre investment providing much of the lift; tech earnings are forecast to rise almost 33% and industrial profits 11%. The next test will be whether companies’ outlooks show that momentum lasting beyond this quarter.

Useful this morning: Travelling abroad soon? Check both your health card and travel insurance before departure. UK government guidance says a valid GHIC or EHIC can provide medically necessary state healthcare in the EU, Switzerland and some other countries on the same terms as residents. It is not a substitute for insurance: private treatment, repatriation and costs such as mountain rescue may not be covered. Check expiry dates and policy exclusions now, rather than at the airport.
