I still say half of keeping an old car alive is just not getting in a hurry.
Everybody wants the fancy scan tool answer, and sometimes yeah, that thing helps. But most of the time I start with the dumb stuff. Battery posts clean? Ground strap not green and crusty? Vacuum hose split where you can't see it? Plug wire laying where it ought not be?
Had more than one rig act possessed and it was just some cheap little thing somebody skipped because they wanted the big answer first.
My rule is coffee first, flashlight second, parts store last. Saves money and keeps a man from throwing wrenches at innocent fenders.
