π Good morning, RootBadger. Saturday starts with the latest look at the U.S. labor market and a few dates for looking up this month.
ποΈ Reuters morning read: U.S. employers added 29,000 jobs in September, below the 90,000 economists polled by Reuters had expected. The unemployment rate edged up to 4.2% from 4.1% as more people entered the workforce, while earlier payroll gains were revised lower. Reuters reports that the figures reinforce a low-hiring, low-layoff labor market and make an October Federal Reserve rate increase less likely, though inflation remains central to the next decision.

π Useful this morning: NASA's October skywatching guide is an easy calendar saver. The Orionid meteor shower peaks overnight October 21β22; NASA says the best chance may be in the few hours before dawn after the bright Moon sets. Then, on October 27β28, look east in the evening for the Moon near the Pleiades star cluster. For either outing, find a dark spot and give your eyes time to adjust.
