Good morning, Europe. Friday opens with stronger factory activity across the euro zone and a useful check before an autumn trip.
Reuters morning read: Euro-zone manufacturing expanded at its fastest pace in more than four years in September, according to an S&P Global survey reported by Reuters. The PMI rose to 52.9 from 52.7 in August, its third monthly increase. New orders grew at their quickest rate since early 2022; the Netherlands led the expansion, Germany posted solid growth, and France, Italy and Spain recorded more modest gains.

Useful this morning: If you have European travel ahead, check your health card’s expiry date now. EU-insured travellers can obtain an EHIC free from their national health insurer; UK residents can apply for a free GHIC through the NHS. These cards cover necessary state healthcare under the destination’s rules, but not private care, rescue or repatriation, so they do not replace travel insurance.
