The figures also showed real household disposable income per head rising 1% in the quarter and a sharp upward revision to business-investment growth.

Useful this morning: The NHS flu-vaccination programme opens to most eligible people today, 1 October. The free vaccine is recommended for groups including adults aged 65 and over and people with certain long-term health conditions. If you are eligible, the NHS page explains where to get it; appointments can be booked through the NHS App or online, and you do not need to wait for an invitation.
