Good morning, Europe. Monday opens with an early change at the top in Serbia and a practical account-security upgrade.
Reuters morning read: Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has resigned seven months before the end of his term, clearing the way for an early presidential election. Reuters reports that parliament speaker Ana Brnabic will serve as interim president and that the presidential vote must be completed within 90 days. The move comes while parties campaign for Serbia’s snap parliamentary election on 25 October.

Useful this morning: When a service offers a passkey, the UK National Cyber Security Centre recommends choosing it over a password. Passkeys use your device’s existing unlock method—such as a fingerprint, face check, or PIN—and are resistant to phishing because the credential cannot be intercepted or reused like a password. For accounts without passkeys, keep using a strong, unique password and two-step verification.
