Juno Is Still Talking—Even After Jupiter Tried to Silence It
NASA's Juno spacecraft has successfully returned another batch of data from its latest close pass of Jupiter. That's no small feat—during an earlier recent flyby, Juno entered safe mode twice while passing through Jupiter's brutal radiation belts, temporarily shutting down its science instruments to protect itself. Mission engineers restored full operations, and the spacecraft resumed transmitting valuable science data back to Earth.
Now, every signal Juno sends home continues to reveal new details about Jupiter's atmosphere, magnetic field, auroras, and moons. Nearly a decade after arriving at the giant planet, it's still expanding our understanding of the largest world in our Solar System.
