We have been working on improving how threads and replies are displayed on RootBadger.
The goal is to make discussions easier to follow without turning the site into a social media clone. RootBadger is still meant to feel like a topic-based discussion system, but replies should be clearer when a thread starts branching.
Recent changes include:
- Group pages now show compact topic rows.
- Opening a topic takes you to a dedicated thread page.
- Replies start collapsed by default.
- Reply boxes only appear after clicking reply.
- Reply buttons can now close the reply box again.
- Message-ID details are still available, but moved into the metadata/header dropdown instead of crowding the main view.
- Replies now use a cleaner indented layout with subtle connector graphics to show reply relationships.
- The thread column has been narrowed and left-aligned so deeper reply chains have more room to indent.
This is still being tuned, but the direction is to keep RootBadger readable, old-school, and discussion-focused while making longer conversations easier to follow.
Feedback is welcome, especially on how replies should look when conversations get several levels deep.
