rb.sci.botany is for the study, appreciation, and discussion of plants and plant life. The group welcomes conversations about plant biology, taxonomy, ecology, evolution, physiology, plant genetics, field botany, native and invasive species, plant identification, botanical history, conservation, cultivation as it relates to science, and the role of plants in larger ecosystems. Appropriate posts include questions about plant structure and function, identification requests with useful context, discussion of research papers or field observations, explanations of botanical terms, reports from gardens or natural areas, and thoughtful conversations about forests, grasses, flowers, fungi-adjacent plant questions, algae where relevant, and the science behind agriculture or restoration work. This is a science group first. Gardening, landscaping, herbalism, and agriculture are welcome when the discussion is grounded in botany, evidence, observation, or practical plant knowledge. Claims about medicine, toxicity, edibility, or treatment should be handled carefully and should not be presented as a substitute for professional advice. Participants are encouraged to write clearly, include location and habitat details when asking for identification help, cite sources when making strong claims, and be patient with beginners. Botany has room for professional researchers, gardeners, hikers, students, naturalists, and curious readers who simply want to understand the green world better.
