rb.rec.youtube is for thoughtful discussion of YouTube as a video platform, creative medium, recommendation ecosystem, and part of modern online culture. Appropriate topics include channels worth following, creators doing interesting work, video formats, production choices, long-form video essays, documentaries, tutorials, livestreams, shorts, creator tools, monetization, audience behavior, algorithm changes, platform policy, and the way YouTube affects media, education, entertainment, and independent publishing. This group is not meant to be a dumping ground for self-promotion. Sharing a video is welcome when there is a real reason to discuss it: explain what makes it notable, what question it raises, what it teaches, or why it belongs in the conversation. A bare link with no context may be removed or moved to a more specific group. Posts should make it easy for readers to decide whether they want to watch. Include the channel or creator name when useful, describe the subject honestly, and avoid misleading titles. Spoilers for documentaries, investigations, reviews, or long-form stories should be marked clearly when they matter. Criticism is allowed. Personal attacks, harassment of creators or viewers, brigading, doxxing, deceptive links, spam campaigns, and attempts to drive abuse toward outside communities are not allowed. Discuss the video, channel, platform, or idea; do not turn the group into a harassment pipeline. This group exists to help RootBadger users find, understand, and discuss worthwhile online video without reducing everything to algorithm bait.
