rb.rec.sport.fishing — CHARTER PURPOSE A home for anglers of every stripe — fly, spin, bait, ice, kayak, surf, and everything between. Fresh water or salt, a farm pond or bluewater, a $12 rod or a custom build: if it involves a line, a hook, and the pull on the other end, it belongs here. ON TOPIC - Catch reports and the stories behind them (photos welcome, honesty encouraged) - Techniques and tactics: reading water, presentation, matching the hatch, jigging, trolling, fighting and landing fish - Gear: rods, reels, line, lures, flies, electronics, boats, and repairs - Species and their haunts: bass, trout, walleye, pike, panfish, redfish, tarpon, tuna — regional runs and seasonal patterns - Knots, rigs, fly tying, and DIY - Conservation, ethics, catch-and-release, regulations, and access - Trip planning, destinations, guides, and honest gear reviews TONE Talk like you're at the ramp at first light: friendly, generous with what you know, patient with beginners. Everyone was a novice once. Share the "how," not just the "what." A good post teaches something or starts a real conversation. THE ONE RULE OF FISH STORIES Tall tales are part of the sport — tell them with a wink. But when someone asks for real advice, give it to them straight.
