Charter / moderation notes

CHARTER rb.rec.radio.amateur.live is RootBadger's directory and discussion group for listening to publicly available amateur-radio traffic through official repeaters, linked networks, talkgroups, and internet-connected receivers. Members may organize listening sessions, share technical observations, help newcomers understand modes and operating practices, and discuss what they hear without copying or automatically transcribing radio conversations. Listening does not authorize transmission. Anyone may listen to lawful public amateur-radio traffic, but transmitting through amateur-radio systems requires the appropriate license, authorization, equipment, and observance of applicable regulations. BurrowTalk is a separate RootBadger voice room for commentary only; it is not connected to BrandMeister, AllStarLink, IRLP, any repeater, or any radio frequency. Posts must not facilitate harassment, doxing, surveillance of private individuals, publication of sensitive personal or emergency information, deliberate interference, unauthorized retransmission, evasion of provider controls, or unlawful operation. Respect each external provider's terms and access controls. Use headphones during shared listening sessions to prevent feedback into BurrowTalk. RATIONALE Amateur radio is easier to understand after hearing real operators, nets, modes, propagation, and linked systems in use. This group gives licensed operators, prospective operators, and curious listeners one maintained place to find official listening resources and discuss them through RootBadger threads and its companion BurrowTalk room. MODERATION This is a moderated group. Moderators may hold or reject unsafe links, unlawful transmission advice, harassment, doxing, sensitive operational information, interference, deceptive claims, provider impersonation, spam, or off-topic material. Good-faith technical discussion, reception reports, criticism, and beginner questions are welcome. Listings do not imply affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship by RootBadger.
