Charter for alt.philosophy alt.philosophy is an unmoderated newsgroup for philosophical discussion in both formal and informal styles, including ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, political philosophy, philosophy of religion, and the history of ideas. On-topic posts include arguments, thought experiments, textual interpretation, critiques of schools of thought, and attempts to work through difficult philosophical problems in public. Serious beginners and experienced readers are both welcome. Off-topic material includes pure slogan posting, mystical word salad presented as argument, spam, and personal feuds detached from any philosophical content. Strong disagreement is fine; empty obscurity is not valuable in itself. Moderation policy: unmoderated. Platform anti-abuse rules still apply.
