Charter / moderation notes
CHARTER: rb.alt.liberty-now PURPOSE rb.alt.liberty-now is a forum for discussion from a broadly libertarian perspective: individual liberty, civil rights, limited and accountable government, free association, free expression, voluntary cooperation, property rights, decentralization, sound money, free markets, privacy, self-defense, and the proper limits of state power. The group welcomes political philosophy, public policy, history, books, court decisions, legislation, elections, activism, technology, economics, and current events when the discussion has a clear connection to liberty. Classical liberals, minarchists, anarchists, civil libertarians, libertarian socialists, independents, party members, and respectful critics may all participate. This is a discussion group, not an official organ of any party, campaign, or organization. PTT GATHERINGS Members meet in the group BurrowTalk/PTT room on Monday and Thursday evenings, with additional informal gatherings on some Saturday evenings. Exact times and schedule changes should be announced in the group so members in different time zones can join. Voice participation is optional; substantive discussion remains welcome in ordinary posts and threads. POSTING GUIDELINES Use descriptive subjects, quote only what is needed, trim signatures and quoted material, and keep replies connected to the thread. Sources are encouraged for factual claims. Strong disagreement is expected, but arguments should address ideas rather than substitute insults for reasoning. No libertarian purity test is required. Humor, satire, event notices, and organizing discussion are welcome when relevant. RATIONALE Liberty-related discussion is often scattered across politics, economics, technology, privacy, firearms, law, and philosophy groups. This group provides one durable place to examine those subjects through the common question of how power affects individual freedom and voluntary life. MODERATION: YES Posts require moderation approval. Moderation exists to keep the group topical and usable, not to protect any faction from criticism. Good-faith disagreement with libertarian ideas is on topic. Spam, flooding, repetitive partisan bait, personal harassment, threats, doxxing, advocacy of violence, unlawful coordination, and material unrelated to the charter may be rejected. Crossposts should be limited to groups with a genuine topical connection. Moderation decisions should be based on conduct and relevance, not ideological conformity.
